Recently my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see a band that I adored in high school - The Dresden Dolls. He had the entire day off of work, so we went out for lunch and stopped to play arcade games before heading to the show.
We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Glenelg - Gringos - that a relative had recommended. The food was pretty but not that great, and I'm definitely not a fussy eater !
A cute little bird joined us in the empty restaurant
We wasted so much money trying to win candy and tickets, and ended up with none! It was still really fun, I love arcades! (I almost had my birthday party at one last year, but ended up having a Harry Potter themed dress up instead.)
My lovely boyfriend :)
Unfortunately I didn't take the best camera lens for how far away we were from the band, so I didn't get any good photos. It was probably better that way though because I gave me more of a chance to dance and enjoy the show!
Amanda Palmer is amazing and so funny live. She played an impromptu song when the drummer Brian had trouble with his drum stool and invited several local musicians onstage to help them cover The Beastie Boys Fight for your Right.
If you haven't already heard The Dresden Dolls, here are some of my favourite songs by them
